One of the pleasures of being a wedding photographer is witnessing different styles of weddings and visiting many beautiful locations. Lately, I’ve seen a lot of couples choose modern venues such as hotels and country clubs to host their weddings. Whilst these are all spectacular wedding locations, it was definitely a nice change of scenery to photograph Chelsea and Ken’s wedding at a historical monument located in Pok Fu Lam– Bethanie Chapel.
Built in 1875, Bethanie Chapel’s neo-gothic architecture and sheer size made for a grandiose and extraordinary place to have two lovers come together as one. With Chelsea and Ken opting for a traditional western white wedding, their picture matched that of a royal wedding day.
Among the streaming white walls of the chapel, the luxuriously detailed stained glass windows gave a burst of colour against the bride’s lace wedding gown as she and her father waited patiently for the ceremony to begin.
The ceremony was elegant and moving. As the chapel had such an astounding history and presence, I made sure to capture and illustrate both the gentle and emotional factors of the event. As the gracious and handsome couple said their vows, family and friends alongside the bride and groom shed tears in celebration of Chelsea and Ken’s love for one another. Judging by the tender ring placing and loving looks, you can tell that the couple has found something truly special.
Standing in front of the majestic altar, the dazzling newly-weds undeniably looked fit to be royals as they embarked on the start of their new life together.
