What are the vital elements that make a wedding day special? Aside from the big event itself, it is the people attending the big day — the bride and groom included– that create the unforgettable moments. A great series of wedding photographs, in my opinion, reflects exactly that. The photographs will give you a well-rounded portrayal of the human aspects at the celebration. Whether it’s the emotions or the friendly and loving gestures between the couple and their friends and family, these elements combine to create a charming and delightful atmosphere–the hallmarks of a splendid wedding day.
This may sound fairly obvious, but preserving these timeless moments with a camera is often easier said than done. That’s why on the job,my team and I are always drawn to intricately observing interactions between individuals. My intention is not only to immortalise these special exchanges between family and friends but also to visually illustrate the remarkable bonds that exist in a specific moment.
Agreeing with my approach, Dorothy and Jeffrey had me on board to photograph their wedding day. The preparations for their wedding took place at Hotel Indigo, Hong Kong. Dorothy was accompanied by her lovely bridesmaids during the preparation as they helped her get dressed and calmed her nerves by sharing a glass of wine together. I was happy to capture these beautiful moments between the wonderful ladies as I could see the bridesmaids’ depth of care and happiness for Dorothy. The bride herself was visibly comforted by her brilliant band of ladies.
The wedding and banquet took place at Yan Fook Church and the Intercontinental Hotel respectively. I was particularly taken by Dorothy’s wedding dress, which had an elegant and classic look to it. The dress suitably matched the simple and refined wedding agenda, a style of weddings that I have seen proliferate in recent years.
It was a pleasure to photograph Dorothy and Jeffrey’s wedding day and witness the beauty of human connection.
