Time really flies! I still remember my trip to Kyoto with Yiu and Ben last November for their pre-wedding shoot. At the blink of an eye, it is finally their wedding day. I’m so honoured and grateful for them to pick me as their photographer on their big day.
After looking at my portfolio where many clients had their weddings held at grand hotels, Ben mentioned that he was worried that his wedding venue wasn’t luxurious or beautiful enough. However, this worry of his quickly disappeared as I reassured him that from a photographer’s perspective, photographs are meant to capture the atmosphere and emotions of people, and not just the beautiful decorations or surroundings. I am a firm believer that a beautiful picture can be taken anywhere. The importance is to capture its beauty in its own unique way. Focusing on the people, and not the background, has always been my philosophy.
Even though Yiu and Ben’s wedding was held at the Grand Stage at Western Market and not some luxurious hotel, it is still a breathtaking place. Although many may think it isn’t very well lit and may not be bright enough to take a good picture, I believe that its dark atmosphere actually helps accentuate the history and atmosphere of Central.
Through these photos, I wish to show you all my way of photography, which is not only to make the couple look good in the photos, but also to capture the happy and touching moments so that the couple can relive their big day when they flip through the photos in years to come.
